Challenge #2 – 6 Week Toneitup Challenge

Get your butt movin!! That is what my inner athlete is screaming at me daily. Since my accident last January, I can’t really say I have been well…exercising. And coming from a life time of dancing, gymnastics, cheerleading, and running a half marathon the year before, it is pretty discouraging.

“But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:27

Whoa that’s heavy. I talk about eating right and exercising regularly and think I do a decent job but upon closer examination, I would probably be failing if it were a class.

This year things are about to change! YAY! Starting January 1 I am going to be doing the Tone It Up Challenge over at toneitup.com. It is run by two girls Katrina and Karena and they are easy to relate to and make the workouts exciting while also throwing in fun new things throughout the year.

This is what the challenge says:

Jump start your best year ever with the Toned in’12 New Years Challenge!!!  6 weeks of challenges, workouts, accountability, prizes, incentives & motivation!  More details to come!!!

The challenge officially begins Sunday January 1st.  Be on the lookout for your new calendar, your workout schedule and your first prize announcement this weekend!
Your first challenge?  Share this with a friend or family member & commit to do the challenge together 🙂

Well I failed the first challenge. No one wants to do this with me! Not the best start but I am keeping on. Not much to go on now but all of those words make me squeal…challenges…accountability…prizes…incentives…motivation…oh and workouts. That’s what I am talking about. No idea what they have in store but my Brooks and weak little body is ready to get into high gear! Including focusing on healthy eating as well!

Bye bye Lasaters sugary Chai
(okay maybe once a month? please?)

Challenge #1 – Jesus Calling

Hello?! ok…bad joke huh…sorry

I have had this book floating in and out of my life for about 3-4 years now and God has been trying to get me to actually follow and read it for probably at least that long. This year, I’m going to try it.

Summary (from Amazon)

Uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year by missionary Sarah Young.

Jesus Calling is a devotional filled with uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year.  After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to listen to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her.  It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue.  She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but journaling helped her grow closer to God.  Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages.  They are written from Jesus’ point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling.  It is Sarah’s fervent prayer that our Savior may bless readers with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure.

This will not be one I will blog about much, other than a few sections/paragraphs that may stick out for me but I will be blogging about it if is going well or not. Although this is a very short devotional, please keep me in your prayers as I pray to read this everyday.

Do I Dare Believe

TADA! Another new blog for me. As the girl who loves to start projects and has a hard time following through, this will be my third blog to date. However, I am starting a TON of new challenges and I would like to start fresh and take a third-times-a-charm approach to 2012.

I will be attempting to blog through four processes and juggle some other topics I may or may not write about on here. This is definitely not to build readership but rather to hold myself accountable and keep track of progress!

Challenge #1 – Read Jesus Calling Daily devotional book

Challenge #2 – Tone It Up’s 2012 6-week fitness challenge

Challenge #3 – Read one book per month

Challenge #4 – Bake one new item every month

I titled this blog Do I Dare Believe in honor of one of my favorite songs – Do I Dare by David Wilcox.  The song talks about letting the love of the Lord guide my life daring to put my faith in his guidance. I fail to do this daily however this title is meant for encouragement to aid in those shortcomings.

The last verse says:

I don’t have all the answers
I can’t explain it all
I’m not sure where I’m going
But I think I hear a call

I pray if you read this that you hold me accountable and love me through these fun days to come.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:11)

LOVE!
